I developed Child Minding Club with my heart when I got stuck in a lonely place. I had three small children at home and no family to help out. Asking friends to help babysit my children always carried guilt when they didn’t need me to return the favour and it always ended up costing me a bunch of flowers.
Through mutual friends I met a group of ladies that did their own private babysitting co-operative but after meeting them a few times, I realised that this wasn’t for me – I noticed that it was unorganised and unstructured, the woman had very different parenting ideas to me and nobody lived close to each other. I walked away empty but continued to enjoy my three adorable children and spending every minute with them.
The following year when my eldest daughter started Primary school I had instant connections to many of the parents as we chatted and waited for the bell to ring. One day it came to me that these are the people I could trust looking after my children as we not only have the school as a common interest but we all lived in a close vicinity of each other.
Child Minding Club was developed as a computer program that is personally designed for parents and carers from your child’s school to record and exchange points with a babysitting co-operative. All carers that join through the schools administration are given ten points and you use 1 point to exchange for 1 hour of babysitting. Points and hours can be exchanged between all members from your child’s school who join the program. You are not obligated to accept all babysitting invites which is why we would encourage as many members from your child’s school. This also gives parents choice as to who they would want to ‘invite’ to babysit their child.
Once the program is in place at your child’s school you can use your points to go to the hairdressers, work during school holidays or go Christmas shopping alone. The opportunities are endless!
